Elbert Shifflett

Elbert Shifflett, 80, of Stanardsville, Virginia, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 9, 2024. Elbert was born on February 23, 1944, the son of the late Wilmer Shifflett and Earla Virginia Deane Shifflett.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Waylon Shifflett, and two brothers, Thurman Shifflett and Leabert Shifflett. 

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of almost 60 years, Joyce Ann McFarland Shifflett; two sons, James “Little El” Shifflett and Jeremy “Mikey” Shifflett; siblings Lena Meadows, Lillian Powell, Peachie “Rita” Roach, Virginia “Faye” Williams, and Bruce Shifflett; and grandchildren James “Jes” Shifflett and Joseph “Joey” Shifflett; and best friend, who was more like a brother, Albert Deane. 

El had a divine love for his family, especially for his two grandchildren, who will miss their “Gran-gran” every day. For many years, El worked for himself in the auto body industry. 

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Mount Herman Mennonite Church, 1640 Mutton Hollow Road, Stanardsville, Virginia, 22973. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Vernon Peachey and Jon Lee officiating.
