Edward “Wack” Junis Breeden, 82, of Ruckersville, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was born on June 14, 1935 in Charlottesville, VA to the late Leslie and Fannie Breeden.
Wack played for the Greene County Eagles Baseball team and the Ruckersville Raiders and later coached little league for 13 years and pony league for 3 years. He loved sports and was a faithful Baltimore Orioles, Washington Redskins, Washington Wizards, UVA Athletics and Dale Earnhardt fan. He was a competitive 9 ball pool player from the age of 14 to 81, winning numerous championships and tournaments earning his nickname “Wack”. Most of all, he loved his family and any excuse for a cookout or family gathering.
He is survived by his sunshine of 62 years, Jean Payne Breeden; children, Debra (Dale) Morris, Charlotte (Lyman) Knight, Gregory “Tom” (Cindy) Breeden, Janet (Vern) Lamb, Edward O. “Eddie” Breeden and Kenny (Melody) Breeden; his granddaughter that he raised as his own, Tara Snow; brother, Randolph (Faye) Breeden; sister-in-laws, Hilda Breeden and Ruth Turner; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; friends, Angie Shifflett and Alberta Morris and numerous other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, James “Gippy” Alvin Breeden.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Shifflett officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
