Edward Lee Shifflett, Sr.

Edward Lee Shifflett, Sr. “Boogie”, 77, of Earlysville, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born November 16, 1945 in Albemarle County, son of the late Raymond Earl Shifflett and Merlene Catherine Davis Shifflett.

In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Jacqueline Shifflett.

Edward is survived by two loving sons, Eddie (Angel) and Jamie (Paige); H.L. Shifflett, who was like a son to him; two step-grandchildren, Summer and Kote; special nephew whom he thought of as a son, Sam (Lisa); great-nephew, Hunter; special niece, Patti Pridemore; sister, Francis Horan; brothers, Dennis Shifflett and Lenny Shifflett; brother-in-law, Ray Shifflett; special friends, Stanley Shifflett, Laura Taylor, and Brenda Morris; and many other family members and friends.

Edward was a self-employed painter for many years.  He enjoyed the simple things in life: his family, watching television, and enjoying the view from his home.  He was a man with a witty personality, who always was looking out for others, always smiling, and loved listening to his family playing music.

Dad will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank the staff of Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, Hospice of the Piedmont, and the family and friends who supported him to the end of his life.  The family would especially like to thank, H.L. Shifflett and Brett and Teresa Bryant for their support and kindness.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Ryan Funeral Home.  Interment to follow at Pine Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
