Edith Evelyn Shifflett
Edith Evelyn Shifflett, 80, of Ruckersville, VA died on Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Hospice House of Charlottesville. She was born on May 28, 1931 in Charlottesville, VA to the late George Shifflett and Roberta “Tibby” Shifflett.
Mrs. Shifflett was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her love and dedication was in her family, especially her grandchildren who she adored and cherished. She enjoyed gardening, tending to flowers and making sure all who came to see her left full because of her wonderful cooking. Her love of life and family will live in all she knew.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, William Andrew Shifflett, her children, Rose Lawson of Quinque, Juanita Lowe and her husband, Paul of Palmyra, Ricky Shifflett and his wife, Lynda of Ruckersville and Allen Shifflett and his wife, Samantha of Ruckersville.
Additional survivors include her grandchildren, Sharon Lawson Taylor and her husband, Daniel, Michele Lawson, Andy Lowe, Brittany Lowe, Will Shifflett, Colby Shifflett, Parker Shifflett, Spencer Shifflett and two great grandchildren, Evan and Delena Taylor and her siblings, Bernard Shifflett, Dorsey Shifflett, Nina Boddows and Elizabeth Hoffman.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Douglas Lawson, her great granddaughter, Ella Taylor, and her siblings, Gordon, Thurston, Cleveland, Howard, and Frank Shifflett, Victoria Ralston, Amy Shifflett Breeden, Vivian Baker, Nellie Tompkins and Robbie Marks.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at First Bible Baptist Church, 235 Crusaders Court Stanardsville, VA 22973.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 1 p.m. at First Bible Baptist Church, with Rev. Jim Woods officiating.
Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor and Mrs. Woods for their visits, phone calls, love and support during this difficult time.
