Douglas A. Lawson
Douglas A. Lawson, 60, of Ruckersville passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at Hospice House surrounded by his family.
Doug was born August 11, 1951 in Charlottesville, Virginia, son of the late Hiram J. Lawson, Jr. and Givy Eppard Lawson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Rose Lawson; one daughter, Michelle Renee Lawson of Sterling; three brothers, Gilmer Lawson and his wife, Faye of Stanardsville, Charles Lawson and his wife, Carolyn of Stuarts Draft, Randall Lawson and his wife, Ann also of Stanardsville; his father and mother-in-law, William and Edith Shifflett of Ruckersville; two special brothers-in-law, who were like brothers to Doug, Ricky Shifflett and his wife, Lynda of Ruckersville, Allen Shifflett and his wife, Samantha of Stanardsville; a sister-in-law, who was like a sister to Doug, Juanita Lowe and her husband, Paul of Palmyra; a very special niece who was like a daughter, Sharon Lawson Taylor and her husband, Daniel and their children, Evan and Delana of Stanardsville; six special nieces and nephews, Brittany and Andy Lowe, Will, Parker, Colby and Spencer Shifflett and many other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Garland Lawson.
Doug was employed at State Farm Insurance for 39 years.
Doug was a kind and gentle person, who was a loving husband, father, brother, and uncle.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday, March 25, 2012 at the First Bible Baptist Church, 235 Crusaders Court, Stanardsville, Virginia.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 26, 2012 at First Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.
