Dorothy Jean Saunders

Dorothy Jean Fulton Saunders, 77, of Stanardsville, VA passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021. She was born on July 2, 1944, in Crawford, MS to the late Robert Lee and Irene (Hendrix) Fulton.

Dot married William Allen Saunders on July 27, 1962, in Washington, DC and together they had one daughter, Judith Ann. She retired from the US Department of Agriculture with over 30 years of service. Before moving to Stanardsville, VA she worked for TMA, a Navy contractor, for 5 years.

She is survived by her sister, Bettie Nuebel; brother, Joseph Elmer (Vicki) Fulton; brother-in-law, Bobby Saunders; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; daughter, Judy; brothers, Phillip, Richard, Robert, Allen, Paul, Arthur, and Ed; sister, Carolyn Proctor; and numerous in-laws’, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Bobby Saunders, Bettie Nuebel and her grandchildren, and Deanna Deisbeck for their love and care.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968 with Pastor Steve Nethery officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
