Dorothy Baird Breeden

Dorothy Baird Breeden, 85, of Stanardsville, died on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Evergreene Nursing Care Center. She was born November 4, 1926 in Washington, D.C. to the late Georgia Graves Baird.

Dorothy’s life was completely devoted to her husband and children. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing puzzles but most of all her pride was in her children and family. Her sweet nature and loving disposition will always be remembered.

She is survived by her children, Georgia A. Brucker and her husband, Paul, Thomas E. Breeden, Cathy Morris and her husband, Gary and Kimberly Tate and her husband, Rodney.

Additional survivors include her grandchildren, Kelley Sims, Shannon Walton, Corey Walton, Elliott Hess, Andrew Tate and Lance Tate, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Early Breeden, her daughter, Diane Breeden and eight siblings.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful and devoted staff at Evergreene Nursing Care Center for the tender care given to our mother.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 18, 2011 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 11 am at Holly Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Greene County Rescue Squad, PO Box 302 Stanardsville, VA 22973; Stanardsville Fire Department, PO Box 165 Stanardsville, VA 22973; and/or Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pky, suite 300 Charlottesville, VA 22911.
