Doris Irvin Ryan
Doris Irvin Ryan, 77, of Stanardsville, VA passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Harbor at the Renaissance. She was born on June 12, 1937 in Wythe County, VA to the late Glen S. and Agnes Hearn Irvin.
Doris became a funeral director in 1974 and was a longtime member of the Virginia Funeral Directors Association. She and her husband, Frank, owned and operated Ryan Funeral Home in Ruckersville for over 50 years. She was a member of the Stanardsville United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Greene County Rescue Squad.
Mrs. Ryan is survived by her daughters, Sharon R. Meadows of Richmond, Angela R. Jennings and her husband, Jerry of Lugoff, SC and Sarita R. Powers and her husband, Warren of Madison.
Additional survivors include her siblings, Michael W. Irvin and his wife, Regina of Wytheville, VA, Danny J. Irvin and his wife, Teresa of Rocksboro, NC and Glenda I. Arnold of Wytheville, VA; her grandchildren, Theresa D. Eddins, S. Bradley Durrer, Benjamin R. Durrer, Morgan A. Meadows, Ryan S. Powers, Camryn T. Powers, Abigail R. Powers, Kendall L. Powers, and Bethany E. Powers; one great grandchild, Zane O. Mahoney Eddins and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin C. Ryan, her infant son, Anthony “Tony” R. Ryan, and her brother, Douglas M. Irvin.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Winner officiating.
Interment will follow in Holly memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Greene County Rescue Squad, PO Box 302, Stanardsville, VA 22973, Stanardsville Fire Dept., PO Box 165, Stanardsville, VA 22973, Ruckersville Fire Dept., PO Box 789 Ruckersville, V A 22968 and/or the Dyke Fire Dept., PO Box 9, Dyke, VA 22935.
