Doris Jean Hyatt went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.
Doris was born July 7, 1942, daughter of the late Ellis Zeb Shifflett and Margaret Shifflett.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her brothers, David Jonathan Shifflett, Earl Ronnie Shifflett, and Sherman Ray Shifflett; and sister, Ann Marie Williams.
She was a devoted wife of 25 years to her husband, David Hyatt. She was a loving, caring and wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Doris is survived by her four children; daughters, Connie Walton and her companion, Randy Smith and Lisa Marshall and her husband, Danny; sons, Troy Shifflett and Neil Shifflett; five grandchildren, Erik Walton and his wife, Crystal, Chad Walton and his wife, Rachel, Shawn Walton and his companion, Tiffany Shifflett, Kevin Marshall and his wife, Caryn, and Cory Marshall and his wife, Ashlie; 11 great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Hunter, Katie, Dylan, Brent, McKinzie, Parker, Bryce, Colton, Emma, and Piper.
She is also survived by a brother, Glenn Shifflett and his wife, Dorothy; and sister, Brenda Shifflett and her husband, Ed.
Doris devoted her whole life to loving, caring, and providing for her family. The joy of her life was spending time with her family. She absolutely loved spending holidays together, big family meals, decorating for the holidays, and spoiling her grandchildren rotten. She loved cooking, cleaning, yard work, and canning. She loved her animals and her time spent working at the Greene County Animal Shelter.
The family would like to extend a thank you to Medi Hospice and Caryn Marshall for all the love and care given to Nana during her illness and especially in her last days.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Sunday, October 25, 2020 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, Virginia 22968.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 26, 2020 at Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Shifflett officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Due to COVID 19 mandates, masks and social distancing are requested.
