David Jonathan Shifflett, Sr.

David Jonathan Shifflett, Sr., 77, of Stanardsville, Virginia passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at his home.

He was born December 11, 1941 in Albemarle County, son of the late Ellis Shifflett and Margaret Shifflett.

David is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sharon Shifflett; children, Tracey Via (Kevin), David Shifflett, Jr., and Amy Shifflett; siblings, Doris Jean Hyatt, Ann Williams, Glen Shifflett and Brenda Shifflett; grandsons, Jonathan Marshall Via and Andrew Joseph “A.J.” Via; special friend, Ruby Shifflett; special niece, Lisa Marshall (Danny); and many other family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two brothers, Sherman Shifflett and Ronnie Shifflett.

David was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked at Crouse Hinds and a bus driver for Greene County Public Schools for many years. He was also a lifelong member of the Stanardsville Volunteer Fire Department.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968 with Rev. C. C. Kurtz officiating. Interment will follow at Geer Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
