Clarence Joseph Livesay

Clarence Joseph Livesay, 77, of Ruckersville, VA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at The Laurels of Charlottesville. He was born on July 13, 1940 in Dunbar, WV to the late Harry Livesay and Betty Livesay Vaughan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Duffield.

He is fondly remembered for his sense of humor and his dedication and love for his family. He enjoyed cooking, seeing live music, attending sporting events, reading and movies.

C.J., as he was known to friends, family and colleagues, worked for Pratt & Whitney in West Palm Beach, FL, and later, United Technologies Corporation in Hartford, CT, developing their University Relations Program.

After moving to Charlottesville VA, he was Director of Career Services at The University of Virginia School of Engineering and Applied Science, where he took great pride in helping prepare students and alumni for their professional lives.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Hazel Livesay; his son, Marcus Livesay and his wife Jill; his daughter, Angela Powell and her husband Stephen; his grandchildren, Sierra Smith, Tyler Powell, Ben Powell and Hayden Livesay; and great grandson, Connor Shatz.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of The Laurels and Hospice of the Piedmont for their wonderful care and support.

A private service will be held at a later date.
