Charles Wayne Shifflett, 74 of Ruckersville, Virginia passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24th, 2022, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer, under the loving care of his family and Medi Home Hospice. He was born October 4th, 1947, in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was the son of the late Howard and Claris Shifflett, and was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard Shifflett, Jr., and Melvin Shifflett.
Mr. Shifflett dedicated himself to his family and his work. His shop, Wayne’s Auto Body Shop, held a very special place in his heart and the hearts of his many loyal customers. He loved restoring cars, whether it was for one of his customers (who he loved) or working to restore one of his own street rods. Wayne had a passion for cars and bringing them back to life. “Papa” also loved spending time with his grandsons Austin and Dylan and held a very special place in his heart for time spent with his great granddaughter Paisley, or as Wayne referred to her “my girl”. She most certainly melted his heart. Throughout the years he also enjoyed fishing and spending time with family at Smith Mountain Lake in Virginia.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rosie “Judy” Shifflett; brother, Irving Shifflett (Jerry) of Quinque, Virginia; daughters, Cynthia Lynn Shifflett of Stanardsville, Virginia, Donna Kay Shifflett of Ruckersville, Virginia; grandsons Austin Ray Shifflett (Amanda Mundy) and Dylan Wayne Teel (Alexis Hilton); great granddaughter Paisley Rose Teel; special family Danny Allen Morris (Lorna Gibson); and special brother-in-law Nick Nicholson. He is also survived by many other family members and special friends.
The family will receive family and friends on Thursday evening, July 28th, 2022, from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia, 22968. The family respectfully requests that masks be worn while attending to protect the more vulnerable.
