Carl Wayne Baugher

Carl Wayne Baugher, 82, of Stanardsville, VA died peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 17, 2014. He was born on October 24, 1931 in the old village of Celt, VA. He was the 4^th child of nine born to the late Raleigh and Olga McDaniel Baugher.

 Dad was a hard working former Bethlehem Steelworker who left home for 30 plus years to Baltimore, MD to join his brothers, uncles and numerous local men who went north to work in the Mills at Sparrows Point, MD. He enjoyed horseracing, fishing, drinking with his buddies at Fords Tavern in Edgemere. After retirement in the early 90’s he moved back to the home place at Celt Virginia that his grandfather, John Ira Baugher built. Once home he hung out with his buddies at Dairy Queen when he was not busy splitting wood to keep the house warm. Dad never drank in a bar again but would enjoy a beer or whisky with friends out by the woodpile.

 He is survived by his sons, Wayne C. Baugher and his partner, Lindsy Maisch of Slate Hill, Carl Edward Baugher and his wife, Soun of Celt and Dennis A. Baugher of Boise, ID.

 Additional survivors include 6 grandchildren, Carl Raleigh of Boise, ID, Calvin, Emiry and Lily of Celt, VA, Maria of Holland and Christina of Baltimore, MD, three great grandchildren, his brothers, Glynn and Larry Baugher of Marion, VA and the love of his life and mother of his three boys, Dorothy Puelzt.

 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Hazel Clayson, Violet Burns, June Deaton and Kay Ortwein, his brothers, Fred and Roy Baugher and an infant granddaughter, Jessica Lee.

 Mr. Baugher will be missed!

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.

 A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Paran Cemetery on Welsh Run.
