Bruce Archer Estes

Bruce Archer Estes, 90, of Gordonsville, died on Monday, January 17, 2011. He was born on April 17, 1920 in Greene Co. to the late Angus Clinton Estes and Minta Anne Deane Estes.
Mr. Estes was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country in WWII.
He was a member of the Ruckersville Baptist Church and charter member of the Ruckersville Fire Department. He coached little league baseball in Gordonsville and was an Assistant Scout Master in Barboursville. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing and hunting but above all he cherished his family, especially his granddaughter.
He is survived by his son, Allen Estes and his wife, Patricia of Gordonsville, his granddaughter, Danielle Estes of Murray, KY and his sister, Kathleen Donnelly of Charlottesville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle M. Estes and nine siblings, Zirkle, Kendall, Claude, Ernly, Gladys, Harold, Guy, A.C. (Buddy) and Marjorie.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 20. 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Ryan Funeral Home with Rev. Kyle Clements officiating.
Interment will follow in Ruckersville Cemetery with military honors.
