Brett David McCartney
Brett David McCartney, 49, of Stanardsville, VA died on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at his residence. He was born on August 24, 1964 in Yorktown, IN to his father, David McCartney of Yorktown, IN and his mother, Sherry Borders of Gordonsville, VA.
He graduated in 1982 from Yorktown High School in Yorktown, IN and was in the Navy in electronics from 1983 to 1989. He was employed at Liberty Fabrics, Gordonsville in a supervisory position for many years and was at Diversify in Gordonsville at the time of his brain injury.
Brett also leaves behind his beloved beagles, Jack and Molly. He had many friends everywhere and loved visiting with them. He especially enjoyed the Great Value in Stanardsville where he was always greeted enthusiastically by the employees. He will be sorely missed.
In addition to his parents he is survived by his daughters, Brittani Renee McCartney and Jenny McCartney, his grandson, Gauge Brett McCartney and his sister, Angela Tuck.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 5 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home.
Interment will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 1 p.m. in Culpeper National Cemetery.
