Brenda Louise Adkins

Brenda Louise (Deane) Adkins, 75, of Ruckersville, VA, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 18th, 1949, in Charlottesville, VA, to the late Thomas Edward Deane and Margaret Louise (Lamb) McDaniel. 

Brenda worked as a custodian at Greene County Public Schools and the University of Virginia. She attended church at Grace Free Will Baptist Church and Calvary Free Will Baptist Church. She especially loved to teach Sunday School and clean the church and was also passionate about spreading the gospel of what Christ had done for her.

Brenda married Russell Adkins Sr. on October 30th, 1964, in Fairfax, VA. Brenda and Russell would celebrate their 60th anniversary.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Russell Adkins Sr; children, Donna (Wallace) Harlow and Russell (Lisa) Adkins Jr; grandchildren, Wally (Suzie) Harlow, Justin Harlow, Shawn (Tiffany) Harlow, Matthew (Kaleigh) Harlow, Sarah (Tyler) Shifflett, Rachel (Austin) Robbins, Mary (Brant) Adkins, Jacob Adkins & Thomas Adkins; great-grandchildren, Asher and Priscilla Harlow, Elizabeth, Hallie, Isaac & Ethan Shifflett, Nevaeh, Danica, Lucy, Heavenleigh Robbins, two great-grandchildren on the way; great-great-grandchild, Malakai; brothers, Thomas, Cecil, Kenny, Timmy Deane, Chris, Jimmy, Dempsey McDaniel; sisters, Carolyn Hodge, Dale Smith, Shelby Collamer, Joyce McDaniel.

Brenda was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brother, Warren Deane. 

A graveside service will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18th, 2024, at 12784 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, Virginia, with Danny Woody officiating. The family will accept friends following the service for a meal and time of fellowship. 

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Piedmont for the kind and loving care that was given in her final days and Batten Funeral Home for their support and compassion.
