Bon (Buddy) R. Manning of Stanardsville journeyed to his eternal rest with our Lord on June 21, 2022, at the age of 73, surrounded by family. He was the second born of five in Bethel, NC on May 1st to Thomas F. Manning and Virginia Mills Manning.
As a teenager, Buddy enjoyed working on the family tobacco farm fields. Later, he went on to become a skilled machinist at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard where he served under the apprentice program to become a tool and die maker. He completed his career as a master machinist and tool and die maker working 20+ years to retire from Coors Brewing Company in Elkton where he held a critical role in the development of brewing capabilities to the plant. He was known as “A legend on the plant floor” by Reliable Plant conference magazine in 2007.
Buddy was a patriot and a real outdoorsman. He spoke truth and had passion for his country. He loved and appreciated nature from the shoreline to his mountain top where he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He cherished his view with breathtaking morning sunrises as well as the loving and supportive neighbors, two of which he held close to his heart.
He is survived by his daughter, Brandi Kirby & husband Randy and a son, Joshua Manning & wife Debbie. His only sister, Deborah Brooks & special brother-in-law Larry; youngest bother Tony Manning along with his dear aunt Bernice Nichols and sister-in-law Carol Manning. He adored his only granddaughter Kayla Kirby and held a special place in his heart for his grandson Hunter Kirby in addition to two more grandsons and a great grandson; many nieces and nephews; Billie Jo Bonney, Alisha Manning, Adam Sahut, Gemma Sahut, Coral Sahut, Tracy Manning, Zachary Manning and Daniel Manning. Buddy was proceeded in death by both parents, Thomas F. Manning, Jr. and Steve Manning.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
