Archie Ellis Roach
Archie Ellis Roach, 95, of Stanardsville, VA went into the presence of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords with his family lovingly surrounding him at his home on Monday, December 22, 2014.
Ellis was born on November 14, 1919 in Rockingham County. He was the son of the late John Wesley Roach and Edith Gentry Roach.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Georgia L. Roach; ten brothers, Luther, Charlie, Benny, Gilbert, Ashby, Russell, Manis, Wilmer and Ernest and two sisters, Drucella and Rosie.
Ellis is survived by daughters, Carolyn Shifflett of Stanardsville, Doris Deane of Stanardsville, Joyce Sherrill of Ruckersville, Janice Lamb and husband, Wendell of Stanardsville, and son Lebert Roach and wife, Janet of Elkton; seven grandchildren, Tammy Smith of Stanardsville, Brandy Johnson and husband, Kevin of Ruckersville, Jeanette Lamb and husband, Eric of Stanardsville, Phillip Lamb and wife, Josephine of Barboursville, Amanda Bennett and husband, Mark of Stanardsville, Sandy Madison and husband, Michael of Charlottesville and Joey Sherrill of Ruckersville; two step grandchildren, Anthony Lamb and wife, Carolyn of Texas and Jeffery Lamb of Florida; fourteen great grandchildren, Jessica Smith and boyfriend, Michael Taylor, Amber Johnson, Holden Johnson, Kaitlin Bennett, Taylor Bennett, Allyssa Bennett, Melanie Bennett, Elizabeth Lamb, Rachel Lamb, Elliott Lamb, Morgan Kowaleski and husband, Chris, Jerry Madison and friend, Dana, Emily Lamb, Christopher Lamb and Thomas Lamb; eight step great grandchildren, Sharon, Andrew, Jared, Rebecca, Jonathan, Bethany, Nathaniel and Steven; three great-great grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Niko Kowaleski and Jordan Madison ; three half-sisters, Geraldine Black, Edith Mills and Elizabeth Roach.
Ellis faithfully served the Lord for over 60 years and he pastored Nortonsville Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 40 years. Ellis and his wife, Georgia lived their faith with their Servants Hearts. They visited the sick night or day. They traveled many miles in their van over the years taking people to church. Now he has gone the last mile of the way.
His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail Ruckersville, VA 22968.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Nortonsville Pentecostal Church with Pastors Frank Chapman and Rodney Olinger officiating.
Interment will follow in Holly Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bro. Lee Lawson, Bro. Jerry Bandy, Bro. Phillip Knight, Bro. Gary Walker, Bro. Gary Wilson and Bro. Stephen Olinger.
