Anna Pearl Breeden, 93, formerly of Earlysville, passed away August 21, 2017 at Mountainside Senior Living in Crozet, Virginia.
Anna was born December 31, 1923 in McMullen, VA, daughter of the late Joseph and Ada McDaniel Breeden.
Anna is survived by her two daughters, Frances Bailey (Bill) and Wanda Carpenter (Craig); one son, Aubrey Breeden (Pam); son-in-law, Wayne Wood; sister-in-law, Virginia Roach Breeden; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by four sisters, Elsie Breeden Courtney, Mamie Breeden Eppard, Loraine Breeden Cox, Doris Breeden Via; five brothers, Jessie, Roy, Cecil, Elijah and Harry.
Anna loved to cook and her cuisine was sought after by both friends and family. Her greatest joy, following her family, were the children she cooked for during twenty-nine years managing the cafeteria at Broadus Wood Elementary School before retiring and caring for her grandchildren.
Although Anna’s accomplishments may not be found in the annals of history, her accomplishments were none the less amazing. She grew up in very hard times and through the depression when the assurance of a next meal was not a given. She worked hard on farm chores helping to raise her siblings while foregoing her own education for others. In her adult life, she worked hard while sacrificing for the opportunity to do good deeds as her Bible taught her.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville, VA with Pastor Bruce Goldsmith officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Paran Cemetery, where Anna will be laid to rest next to her parents.
