Alice "Hoochie" Lorene Taylor

Alice “Hoochie” Lorene Taylor, 86, of Stanardsville, Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Martha Jefferson Hospital. 

Alice was born on January 8, 1937 in Stanardsville, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Emory and Gertie Taylor. She is preceded in death by her husband Cecil B. Taylor who passed away in 1997. She is also preceded in death by her two sisters Margaret Wood and Betty Taylor. 

She is survived by her two sons Cecil A. Taylor and wife Cynthia and Paul R. Taylor and wife Saundra, two sisters Mary Marshall and Polly Shifflett, a brother in-law Steve Taylor, four grandchildren Ritchie Taylor, Daniel Taylor and wife Sharon, Veronica Jean-Pierre and husband Lee, and Paul Brentton Taylor and wife Kristin, two step grandchildren Blake Dudding and Brooke Nankivell and husband Derek, ten great grandchildren Olivia, Alyssa, Emma, Evan, Delana, Brentton, Kamren, and Anyiah Taylor, Lila and Henley Nankivell, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She worked at Blue Ridge Mission Home for many years and went on to retire from the Orange County Nursing Home. She was also a long time member of the Wolftown Pentecostal Church. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Jeff Shifflett with interment in the Wood Cemetery. 
The family will receive friends Monday, March 6, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Funeral Home.
