May the work I’ve done speak for me. Albert Leroy Stevens departed this life of Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the University of Virginia Health System. He is known by everyone as Leroy.
He was born on July 12, 1936 in Elma, Virginia to the late John Emit and Sallie May Stevens. He is preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Stevens-Smith, one brother Rev. Wayne Stevens, one sister Margret Brackett, half brother George Mayo.
He is survived by his wife Gretchen Stevens; daughter Sheila Boling of Covesville, VA; one grandson Albert Lamar Stevens of Covesville, VA; three sisters, Janie Starks (Oliver) of Charlottesville VA, Annie Hyde (Jim) of Baltimore, MD, Rev. Mary Byers (Donald) of North Garden, VA; one brother George Stevens (Debra) of Nelson Co. and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was employed by Comdial until the doors closed with over 40 years of service. He worked for Eleanor May for over 20 years and had a self employed lawn care service.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday May 13, 2017 at 1pm at First Baptist Church, Covesville, VA with Rev. Joe Chambers, Jr. officiating and Rev. Lloyd Feggans eulogist.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the services.
Interment will follow at First Baptist Church Covesville Cemetery.
